About Us

SmakNews is a social media platform for "women only," where you can find the latest scoop on the "who's who" and "what's what" of celebrity, fashion and great buys.

If you find a celebrity or fashion story you want to share, submit it for others to vote on. Or maybe you have something to say - from fashion and beauty tips to great buys, you can post your own blog to share with your new and old friends alike, or write an article right here on SmakNews.  Maybe you missed your favorite show last night or want a point of view on the newest movie - who's sleeping with McDreamy now? You can chat with other women at SmakNews to get their take on it.

We can promise you this: You've never seen anything like SmakNews.

Now, meet the SmakNews team:

Michael Abehsera, CEO

As the founding CEO, Michael runs the company, generally ordering everyone around and making sure all the visitors to the site talk Smak. If (when?) he has his way, SmakNews will be the No. 1 destination for celebrity gossip and women's news and networking in the world. Michael's dreamed of owning his own businesses ever since he was a kid. Really. OK, so maybe he was a little weird. But see what happens when you follow your dreams? When he's not Smaking, Digging or Twittering, he's playing the drums, listening to music, going to concerts or - gasp! - even reading. Hit him up on Twitter @MichaelAbehsera or e-mail him at MichaelAbehsera@smaknews.com

Sebastian Schepis, Chief Technology Officer

As CTO, Sebastian worked on the design and implementation of software and hardware technology and infrastructure required to implement the SmakNews web community. In other words, you know when you go to submit a story and everything works like it should? Thank Sebastian. In his spare time, Sebastian likes to hurl himself into the ocean and try to stand up on a surfboard, hurl himself down hills on a bike and try not to fall, and hurl himself down mountains on his snowboard and try not to die. He also does his best not to hurl while doing any of the above. You can find him on Twitter @sschepis, or trying to convince the world to use electric vehicles via his website,Zoomi Life. You can hit him up on e-mail at sebastianschepis@smaknews.com

Gina Mom, chief editor

Gina writes and edits content on SmakNews. Check her out on the SmakNews blog and keep an eye out for her articles sprinkled throughout the site. A bookworm since the first grade, Gina always wanted to make sure her life would end up as a biography worth reading. Gina hails from the tinseled town of Hollywood, Calif., where she first got her feet wet. Now they're in skyscraper-high stiletto heels.  You can often find her meandering through any and all shops in hopes of finding the next must-have item or perusing the latest art at a gallery. And when the sun goes down, she somehow manages to squeeze into the front row at many cool concerts. You'll find she's always open to new friends and experiences worth writing about, so hit her up on Twitter @smaknews or via e-mail at gina.mom@smaknews.com.

Josh Cunningham, Chief of Front-end Design/Development

Josh's duties include the front-end design and development of SmakNews, which consists of HTML, CSS and whining about usability. Basically, if you like what you see, it's his work that made it look that way. A chemistry major-turned-web developer, Josh is kind of boring. He likes to learn and to teach - sometimes at the same time. He paints graffiti, draws typography and obsesses about cars he doesn't own. He walks a lot, reads a lot and loves nature, even if he doesn't spend a lot of time in it. You can find him all over the web, often on Twitter @joshcanhelp on his website, Josh Can Help (he really can!) or via e-mail at joshcunningham@smaknews.com

Benjamin Teo, Social Media & Marketing Director

In charge of the SmakNews profile out there in the Wild West that is called social media shouldn't be too hard for Benjamin, who is a social media addict and spends most of his spare time online. Being a huge geek, he loves his xBox 360, Digg and Twitter. Our resident Australian enjoys the occasional mountain biking adventures that always leave him in pain, mainly because he's all but incapabale of jumping over logs or downed trees. Also a motorcycle enthusiast, he enjoys long rides and the occasional track day. Oh, and he's also very clumsy and dyslexic. And loves cats. Hit him up on Twitter @upicks or check out his website, Benjamin Teo . You can also reach him via e-mail at BenjaminTeo@smaknews.com

Samuel Charles Ducourant, Web Developer Sam's working on the development of SmakNews, particularly with an eye toward functionality with other sites, such as Facebook. When he's not not using his skill, lots of skill, in web development, you can find him surfing, snowboarding or rock climbing or spending time with his friends. He loves going to movies and thinks that Jeff Dunham is a really funny comedian. You can hit him up on Twitter @funkychicken818 or send him an e-mail at sam@smaknews.com
